    About This Conference

The only US national conference dedicated solely to middle school math (grades 5–8). The 2027 theme, 'Count Everyone In', tackles the 'Mid School Math Cliff' — the sharpest decline in math achievement from 4th to 9th grade. The event opens with a MidSchoolMath signature immersion, keynotes from Dr. Rachel Lambert (Rethinking Disability and Mathematics) and Chase Mielke (The Affective Teacher), and 40+ breakout sessions. An optional pre-conference workshop on Thursday, March 4 — 'Math Therapy: How to Stop the Math Anxiety Spiral' with Vanessa Vakharia — can be added for $75. All attendees receive complimentary copies of the keynote speakers' books. Past speakers include Jo Boaler, Dan Meyer, Carol Dweck, Sir Ken Robinson, Steve Leinwand and Tracy Zager.

    Justifying the spend

    • Registration rates are comparable to, or lower than, other national education conferences, and the mid-sized host city of Santa Fe keeps hotel and travel costs substantially lower than typical national events.
    • Attendance earns 10 contact hours of documented professional learning (13 with the pre-conference workshop), with a personalised certificate of attendance that meets professional learning requirements in most US states.
    • It is the only national conference focused specifically on grades 5–8 mathematics, addressing the 'mid school math cliff' — the steepest decline in math achievement of any OECD country between 4th and 9th grade.
    • Attendance is intentionally capped at around 700 educators with 50+ concurrent sessions, and all attendees receive complimentary copies of the keynote speakers' books.
